If the English language made any sense, the word lackadaisical would have something to do with a shortage of flowers.

A scopist or proofreader should have an excellent vocabulary and know how to distinguish those pesky homophones. As a logophile (a/k/a word nerd), I thought it would be fun to put together an index of homophones. I wanted to brush up on my homophones and searched the internet but I could not find a comprehensive list anywhere online, so I took matters into my own hands. While not exhaustive, this list is intended to be comprehensive and is constantly being expanded as I hear more and more homophones in my scoping jobs.

I hope you might find this useful. Or, if you are like me, this may be something you just use for fun on a Friday night. As I said — word nerd.

Enjoy!
